AC Shadows Reveals Surprising AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret sect.
The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will acquire an unique katana in addition to several items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
